Grandmother says: I would strangle Tony Blair

August 4, 2006

The grandmother of one of the England football players slammed the government for failing to support them.  Mrs Ada Roonpard told reporters: “Our boys join up to play the likes of Trinidad and the Faroe Islands and then they find they are playing teams like Brazil and Portugal. They get sent to places like Germany where no-one wants them, to play a game they don’t understand. There are people diving all around them, they’re pelted with paper missiles and winked at and what does the Government do?  I would just like to tell Mr Blair this- it wasn’t your son who was shown a red card or labelled a flop was it? “
