Latest israeli aggression

August 21, 2006

Spare a thought for the unfortunate Israeli Justice Minister who, the very day the war erupted, chose to embrace a female soldier in ‘an aggressive manner’ (allegedly). A Justice Ministry statement said the woman accused Ramon of “kissing her on the lips while inserting his tongue without her consent”. Israeli press reports have quoted the woman saying she did not resist the minister at the time because “I didn’t know what to do with myself.” Presumably israeli soldiers are taught how to defend themselves against Arab gunmen and the odd missile but not against the aggressive kiss. That’s definitely one gap in the Israeli military training manual that should be filled. Otherwise, who knows, Hezbollah might change their tactics and use the forcible tongue entry method of attack instead of the more expensive missiles. Ramon’s latest defence (starting from ‘it never happened’) is that a ‘2-3 second’ kiss cannot be considered sexual harassment and that, anyway, “the kiss was consensual”, and, in fact, the woman kissed him. So a pretty solid defence, there, unlike those in Haifa. Anyway, isn’t it the most natural thing in the world when you’re just starting a war to want to go and kiss a few soldiers? Poor fellow- rough justice indeed.

I see, however, that my interpretation of events might be considered by some as being a little naive. “Observers have interpreted Ramon’s exceptionally hawkish stand with regard to the Lebanon war as an attempt to cloud the affair which preceded the outbreak.” So now we know why Israel was so determined to beat the hell out of Southern Lebanon!
